Dementia awareness training films

You can download these films to promote discussion among those involved in your memory cafe. Some can also be shown to community audiences to recruit volunteers or explain what a memory cafe does.

What is a memory cafe?

What is the purpose of a memory cafe? How can memory cafes help people living with dementia? In this short film, shot in several Devon memory cafes, volunteers, co-ordinators and guests answer these questions. The film can be embedded in your website or social media pages or downloaded to show to local community audiences.

Music for memory cafes

Music is one of the most common ways of getting people together at memory cafes. Sometimes this is through sing-alongs. At other times musicians come in to play. But it is also one of the areas where there are likely to be the strongest personal preferences. In this film we see how music therapist Sue Rivett works at a memory cafe, and hear her tips for incorporating music into your activities.
